Decluttering and home organising services – hands on help OR personalised declutter advice session.
I can help declutter and organise any area or aspect of your home to YOUR specification.
Below are just some of the professional organiser and decluttering tasks that I can assist with, click on each title for more information:
Are you wearing less than half of the clothes you own? SO many of us have a mountain of clothes that are inaccessible to us, either because they are no longer useful, or stored inaccessibly.
I love to help with this money saving task. Buy less, wear more!
We will talk about seasons, colour, sizing etc. then work together to categorise items so that you can SEE what you have. I can take any unwanted items to charity then we work together on organised and efficient storage. I can provide space saving hangers to streamline the process if you’d like. THE RESULT: a beautifully organised wardrobe system that can be maintained easily in the long term.
If you’re lucky enough to have a big cupboard, let’s get it sorted.
Organising storage cupboard/s is an excellent foundation towards an organised home. This is a recommended starting point for your declutter journey.
Are you struggling to make progress? You are not alone. Many people go round in circles with their decluttering attempts. If you rarely have more than an hour or two at a time to organise, a one off in person lesson and advice session is the key to success. Learn an efficient method and how to set ACHIEVABLE tasks in the right order.
An organise all areas approach is the way forward if you want to keep your home tidy and organised for the long term. YOU can achieve this, little by little, with the right method and process. I CAN TEACH YOU HOW to triumph over the clutter for good, in a fixed price home visit.
Together, we’ll work out the most efficient method of working for you and your circumstances. We will also create a list of realistically achievable tasks, in the right order, to get you moving forward fast. With this knowledge you can then proceed with the task/s yourself in short blasts when time/energy allow.
You may feel a little apprehensive about the session but please know that I come with no judgement, just solutions. One personalised session may be sufficient for your needs, or you may choose to check in for periodic ‘as and when’ phone sessions to keep tasks moving/keep you on track. No pressure beyond initial session.
Feel free to call for an informal chat with any questions you may have, or drop me a line (please provide your post code- some Edinburgh post codes only).
For a lot of clients this is a priority starting point. Once you have an organised kitchen it feels like there is hope to sort the rest out.
Many kitchens can be decluttered and reorganised in a full day session.
Administration, household bills & utilities and paperwork generally – this can be a major headache for a lot of people and I can help. Is your mail and paperwork mounting up and you don’t know how to take control of it? Is your home office just not working for you?
With several years of corporate Office Management experience, I can assist with working through the backlog and devise a new system to match your needs and logic – you will feel the stress disappear knowing that you have a system in place to keep the admin in check ongoing.
Toys, books and plastic toys coming out of the walls? Clothes everywhere and not a pair of socks matching? It’s a common scene in almost all family homes.
A good declutter and efficient storage all areas is the answer to keeping your home organised and tidy ongoing. Sometimes just a couple of day sessions may be enough to get you moving in the right direction. I can also set some achievable ‘homework’ tasks in between sessions if you’d like. If budget is very limited a declutter lesson/advice session might be the best investment. See ‘your options’ section above.
Change and transitions in life are inevitable for us all. Divorce, relationship break ups, bereavement, new baby/a growing family, downsizing, moving house, ill health and incapacity – the list is endless. The circle of life can certainly bring some challenging transitions which, more often than not bring major reorganisation with regards your living arrangements. Whatever your situation I can help ease the process. A word on some specific scenarios:
New baby or a growing family.
Is your home already bursting at the seams with people and stuff? For many people it seems like a bigger house is the only option but there may be another way. Perhaps it’s possible to rearrange use of rooms/space to create an additional nursery or bedroom. See ‘your options’ section above for help available.
Downsizing
You may be moving house once the kids have moved on, relocating after a relationship breakdown or setting up a new home in your later years. It can be tricky to know what to keep and what to let go of to make your new smaller space work. I can help simplify this arduous task.
Home organising after bereavement.
An already deeply upsetting time also brings the need to organise – both paperwork for probate and the home generally. I have helped many clients in this situation and would be happy to offer some practical support with getting the administrative part in order and to help ease the burden of going through other items when you feel ready. I totally understand that emotions may be to the forefront of these sessions and you are assured of empathy and compassion in help with this daunting task. As always strict confidentiality is assured.
It is a fact that busy professionals often don’t have the time or energy to keep on top of organisation in the home. No need to feel guilty about it. You may prefer hands on help or a personalised advice session – see ‘your options’ above, then give me a call for an informal chat with no obligation, if you think you’d like to make a start.
Moving house can be an exhausting and hugely stressful time. It is a well acknowledged fact that a clutter free home with defined zones will sell faster and for more money and without a doubt any money spent on the task will easily be recouped in the increased sale price. Selling house services come in three stages: Declutter. Home staging. Unpack & create systems in new home. You can engage with any or all services as you prefer. For more information on home staging & unpacking services click here.
If the assistance you need is not on the list please don’t hesitate to get in touch to see if I can help.
You may of course have questions. Some of them may be answered in ‘frequently asked questions’ FAQ page. Otherwise please don’t hesitate to contact me and I’ll be happy to answer them.
“I would recommend Heather’s service to anyone looking to declutter their house. But more than that, she worked with us to help us understand why our house and the stuff in it just was not working for us.
She worked rapidly to help us prepare our house for marketing and staged it beautifully. We received two offers in the first fortnight, which we attribute to Heather’s work.
